Where can I attend the MARAC Training Course:

In House – The MARAC Training Course can be delivered in your place of work on a nationwide basis including London, Birmingham, Manchester and Leeds.  We run this bespoke ‘in-house’ training course anywhere in the UK to suit your specific training needs by arrangement.

We understand that the content will vary for different service areas such as Early Years, Education and Health, we have experienced trainers within the above sectors who can tailor this training course to meet the service area requirements and standards.

 

MARAC Training – Introduction

MARAC Training – Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conferences (MARACs) are meetings where information about high risk domestic abuse victims (those at risk of murder or serious harm) is shared between local agencies. By bringing all agencies together at a MARAC, a risk focused, coordinated safety plan can be drawn up to support the victim. Over 260 MARACs are operating across England, Wales and Northern Ireland managing over 55,000 cases a year.

 

Who is this course for:

This Course is for practitioners or any person working with children, families, parents or carers who have an awareness and understanding of domestic abuse. MARAC representatives, Frontline staff/middle managers in agencies who may deal with victims of Abuse.

Course Benefits

At the end of the course delegates will be able to understand the process for a multi-agency response and how their role fits within this. Understand how they personally can contribute to effective MARACs and preventing further assaults.

Course Content:

  • Understand the MARAC process as a whole
  • Promoting greater understanding of the links between child protection and domestic abuse.
  • Understand the importance of confidentiality/correct information sharing to support the process
  • what is MARAC and will I need to get involved?
  • The prevelance of homicide and serious harm in domestic abuse in the UK.
  • The purpose and background of risk assessment in domestic abuse.
  • How to prepare the client and complete the risk assessment.

Certification

MARAC Training - a certificate will be awarded on completion of the course.

Who is Responsible for Child Care Protection?

The child protection standards are applicable to all public bodies, organisations, professionals and persons who provide statutory services to children. They also establish a framework of best practice in child protection for voluntary, community and independent sector organisations and practitioners (including counsellors and therapists working in a private capacity) who work with or have significant contact with children and young people. They should also help families and members of the public understand how services work to protect children and the important contribution they themselves can make to the safeguarding of children and young people.
