Assisting with risk assessment is an important part of your role as a practitioner working with children and young people. We use risk assessment to help manage both health and safety and children’s welfare. Your manager and other colleagues will have overall responsibility for risk assessments. However, they will rely on staff to help them to gather information and to recognise hazards and risks for employees, children and visitors.
Guidance and Support in Risk Management – It is of paramount importance how risk management documents are recorded and evidenced by practitioners in their daily practice, to ensure a safe environment; also that young people’s individual risk management plans in place meet necessary standards to ensure effective practice in the workplace.
It is the responsibility of the establishment that all staff are briefed and kept up to date with changes in legislation.
Child protection Training Consultants can offer guidance and support in risk management, and will give advice and look at developing documents which will evidence how the standards are met and kept updated, to meet all relevant legislation and required social care standards to meet and enhance your service delivery.
