Guidance and Support in Risk Management

Guidance and Support in Risk Management: It is of paramount importance that any business or social care environment manages risk to ensure a safe environment is maintained for your workforce, children and young people to reside, meeting Health & Safety at work 1999 act, current legislation, organisational standards of the company, Ofsted requirements and National Minimum Care standards.

Assisting with risk assessment is an important part of your role as a practitioner working with children and young people. We use risk assessment to help manage both health and safety and children’s welfare. Your manager and other colleagues will have overall responsibility for risk assessments. However, they will rely on staff to help them to gather information and to recognise hazards and risks for employees, children and visitors.

It is the responsibility of the establishment that all staff are briefed and kept up to date with changes in legislation.

Guidance and Support in Risk Management – It is of paramount importance how risk management documents are recorded and evidenced by practitioners in their daily practice, to ensure a safe environment; also that young people’s individual risk management plans in place meet necessary standards to ensure effective practice in the workplace.

It is the responsibility of the establishment that all staff are briefed and kept up to date with changes in legislation.

Child protection Training Consultants can offer guidance and support in risk management, and will give advice and look at developing documents which will evidence how the standards are met and kept updated, to meet all relevant legislation and required social care standards to meet and enhance your service delivery.

We also have an anti bullying training microsite with a variety of training courses available for students and staff at www.antibullyingtraining.com

We will always review and invest into our resources the development of our client services including: training and development (in-house and public) from Child Protection courses to Management Development Programmes and HR services (from policy and Procedure writing to monitoring of all systems).

Who is Responsible for Child Care Protection?

The child protection standards are applicable to all public bodies, organisations, professionals and persons who provide statutory services to children. They also establish a framework of best practice in child protection for voluntary, community and independent sector organisations and practitioners (including counsellors and therapists working in a private capacity) who work with or have significant contact with children and young people. They should also help families and members of the public understand how services work to protect children and the important contribution they themselves can make to the safeguarding of children and young people.
