Safeguarding Children Level 4
Child protection at Level 4 is aimed at professionals within an organisation who have specific responsibilities for the safeguarding of children’s issues.
In terms of Local Safeguarding Children’s boards Level 4 training should be undertaken by individuals who deal with complex child protection cases, have knowledge of how to work with such complex cases, analyse and plan them. Individual’s who are trained to Level 4 in Safeguarding Children, may or may not have a supervisory and/or a negotiating role in such Child Protection cases. This is in line with the document, “Working Together to Safeguard Children 2010”
In the Health sector, Child Protection Training Level 4 is aimed at named professionals who have a specific lead role as a supervisor in child protection issues and/or taking the lead in negotiating with other agencies in child protection matters. This is a specialist role and can be any named health professional including named nurse, named midwife, named doctor or a named GP.
The training required to receive a Level 4 qualification should be specific to the context in which the professional works.
